You're about to lend. Someone else may already hold security.
Is anything already secured against this company? Here's how to read its charges register.
On the company page, open Charges. It counts every charge registered at Companies House: 2 in total here, 2 still outstanding and in force, and the rest satisfied, meaning repaid or released in full.
Each charge shows its status, when it was created, its type, what it covers, often a property or all the company's assets, and the lender who holds it.
Where the charge names a sum, the page shows it: this legal charge secures £430,000 for Barclays Bank PLC. Many secure all monies owed, with no limit.
You can sort by status or by date, so the charges still in force come first, and a satisfied charge shows the date it was released.
2 of 2 charges still outstanding, and £430,000 already secured.
